Orlando Donuts Worth Trying

Whether you spell them donuts or doughnuts, these breakfast staples are a fixture around Orlando. From national chains to small mom-and-pop spots, here’s our list of some of our favorite Orlando donuts.

The Salty Donut

The Salty Donut, or “The Salty” has developed a cult following over the years and has its roots in South Florida. Located in the Audubon Park neighborhood, The Salty serves up delectable donuts as well as coffee. They have a regular slew of “always” donuts, aka they will always be available – traditional glazed, guava and cheese, coquito, and maple and bacon among them. They also have a rotating set of donuts that are seasonal. If you have your heart set on a certain flavor, plan on getting there early or pre-order because once they sell out, they sell out.

DG Doughnuts

This is a prime example of don’t judge a book by its cover. DG Doughnuts is a local gem and it’s located inside of a gas station in a town called Oakland on Orlando’s west side. DG Doughnuts stands for “Damn Good” Doughnuts and they really live up to their namesake. Their imaginative flavors rotate on a weekly basis along with more traditional flavors and other breakfast staples like apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. Whether you use their drive-thru or walk in, you’ll be amazed at the beautiful creations this small, family-owned business pumps out.

The Glass Knife

If you’re after a classic coffee shop experience with a great ambiance and amazing food,  Winter Park’s The Glass Knife has to be on your list. Their hand-crafted small-batch donuts are really works of art. The flavors rotate seasonally, so if you see something you like, go ahead and order it because you may not see it for a while. For example, every year around the Fourth of July we look forward to their blueberry pie donut. Their outdoor patio is dog-friendly and they also have other food and coffee options as well.

Dochi

When it comes to the Orlando donut scene, Dochi Donuts is absolutely unique. These delicacies combine donuts and mochi and are made with rice flour, which makes the texture chewy, airy, and soft. The flavors rotate and include some interesting combinations like churrotella, cookie butter, and honeydew. You’ll find these at East End Market or Mills 50.

Voodoo Doughnut

Located inside of Universal’s CityWalk, Voodoo Doughnut is the perfect way to either start or end your theme park day. This doughnut shop serves more than 50 different types of doughnuts. Some of our favorites include the ODB which is a cake donut topped with Oreo and a peanut butter drizzle, the Grape Ape, which has grape-flavored dust on vanilla icing, and the Voodoo doll is also a must-have – it has the most delicious raspberry filling.

If you aren’t planning on going to the theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort, you can still visit the shop. Parking is free after 6 p.m., perfect for a nightcap or picking up doughnuts for the next morning.

Everglazed Donuts

Disney Springs has to get in on the donut game too. Everglazed, located right in between the AMC theater and Splitsville has become quite a popular spot at all hours of the day. You can grab a donut, coffee, or lunch here. They have some really unique cold brew flavors, including the option to get a donut-topped cold brew coffee. The Five-O cold brew has cream, vanilla, and coffee syrup topped with a strawberry iced sprinkles donut. For any vegans, the Purple Glazed Ube is a must-try!
