Improving Your Golf Game With PXG Orlando

Golf plays a pretty big part in our lives – but for different reasons. Jessica used to work in golf, while Tyler plays.  Because he’s more of the player, the rest of this post is written by him.

I got my first set of golf clubs when I was young, and have slowly purchased new sets as I’ve gotten older (and taller). I am a below-average player (to put it kindly), so the store-brand sets have always suited me just fine. Sure, the real golfers I knew growing up had fittings done, but I could never see the point for someone as bad as me.

Thanks to a recent trip to PXG Orlando, I now realize how wrong I was.

PXG Orlando specializes in custom golf fittings for golfers of all skill levels. In just one hour you’ll have your swing analyzed and be presented with shafts and heads tailored to you. Do things like this actually work? I’m here to tell you it does.

Playing a full round of golf has been few and far between because of the baby, but there’s one thing I always make sure and do before a round – I book an hour or two at TopGolf and figure out how I’m hitting certain clubs. I may not be able to hit them consistently, but if I can get a handle on my distance I’m happy. For example, I can pretty consistently hit 140 yards with my 7-iron. (Let’s just say “strength” and “muscles” and “being in shape” are not my strong suit).

I went into PXG Orlando’s virtual golf bay and swung their base club a few times. The fact I couldn’t hit straight notwithstanding, I was doing a consistent 140 yards. The staff member analyzed my swing and club speed and thought of some things to change. He went to their wall of golf club pieces and came back with a new configuration. I took another handful of swings and my yardage average? 160. One simple change (he gave me a lighter club shaft) instantly improved my yardage by 20 yards.

That was after watching me swing for only 20 minutes. That was after changing just one aspect of the club.

Just changing the shaft material is only one part of a custom fitting. There’s also the angle of the club head, the right grips, the right size of the shaft for your height, and more.

If you want to experience this for yourself, PXG Orlando does fittings for all ages and skill levels.  It only takes an hour to do and if one small session can make a noticeable change in my game, I can only guess what can happen after a full hour.

PXG isn’t just for clubs either. There’s a full retail store full of shirts, pants, shorts, hats, and everything you need to look and play your best. The latest collection of clothes looks amazing!

I want to give a big thanks to PXG Orlando for inviting us out. I can’t wait to come back, get my full fitting, and really step my game up the next time I’m golfing.
